When trying to lose weight, it can be awfully tempting to try some of the many types of diet pills
that are on the market today. Although they may seem like a miracle, and finally be the answer you
are seeking for your weight loss goals, be careful. Some of the diet pills found on the market can be
useless, dangerous, or a combination of the two.

People spend billions of dollars every year on weight loss and diet programs, including diet pills. Many
of these sales are made for things that don’t even work as they say they do.

Prescription diet pills are FDA regulated and have all of their side effects monitored. They are
prescribed to people under specific conditions and correct pill dosages. Some of these are things like
Bontril, Didrex, Tenuate, Adipex, and Orlistat.

Usually, diet pills are reserved for people that are considered morbidly obese, and are not designed to
replace normal weight loss programs or eating the right foods. They are prescribed to help those that
suffer from health problems related to their obesity.

Diet Pills bought over the counter are classified as food supplements and not diet drugs, and aren’t very
regulated. They do not go through federal testing, and do not have to adhere to the same advertising,
dosage or labeling that prescription diet pills do. However, many weight loss experts say that these
supplements are in fact diet pills.

Even though some of these diet pills have dangerous ingredients that have caused death, there is still no
mandatory reporting procedures for these types of products.

Some of the potential side effects to OTC diet pills are diarrhea, bulging eyes, racing heartbeat, high
blood pressure, nervousness, and even death. It is hard to say what diet pills cause these reactions since
they are often many different things all mixed together.

Some of the side effects to those diet pills that work to suppress appetite via the brain are chest pain,
fever, hair loss, depression, heart damage, and raised blood pressure.

If you are considering taking diet pills as part of a total weight loss plan, discuss the risks and benefits
with your doctor first to insure no problems with the diet pills you plan to use.
